The Journal follows strict double-blind reviewing of the submitted works. Each manuscript is primarily examined by the editor, and then subjected to a verification of the originality of content using Turnitin plagiarism screening service before being forwarded for blind review. The review process may take up from a week to one month. It is conducted by a minimum of two independent academic peers in accordance with the standards of objectivity, anonymity, and confidentiality of information, as well as the guidelines of the Editorial Board and the Ordinance on Publishing Activities of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek and COPE Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers. The categorization of articles is done according to the current MSE Guidelines for Editing and Formatting Journals.

By accepting to review a manuscript, the reviewer confirms the absence of any conflict of interest between the function of a reviewer and any other professional or personal engagements.

Peer reviewers are selected based on their level of expertise in the field / topic of a manuscript. The final selection of peer reviewers is made by the Editorial Board.

The assessment of the reviewer reports and the decision on the submission is made by the Editorial Board. Manuscripts accepted for publication must receive two positive peer reviewer evaluations. In certain cases, if one of the reviewer reports is negative, the selection process includes a third peer review.

The Editorial Board reaches the final decision on the acceptance/rejection of a manuscript based on the peer reviewers’ recommendation. Except for communicating with each individual peer reviewer (sending/receiving the Manuscript Review Form and the manuscript submission, in which all personal data have been erased to secure anonymity), the Editorial Board is not involved in the peer review process.
